IMAGE OF WOMEN IN MEDIA

She is Confident, Suave, talented, and yes most important independent.
The times have changed and so is the image of Women in Media in the last 20 years. Today in this new found image, the woman of today is recognized as strong, Independent and exuding all confidence that the world demands. But the same world gives little space for her to adjust. Taking a panoramic view of the different images of women in Media, its hard to ignore the two varied images. Where one-hand stands the daring Barkha Dutt, on the other ekta Kapoors dutiful wife is confined to the four walls of the house. The war between the conventional women and the Modern age women is on. It is true that a women has have carved a niche for herself, but its equally hard for her to survive. India is and will remain a Male dominated society. Men and Media somewhat enjoy the subjection of women today also. Where some are unacceptable to a certain section , some are welcomed by majority. It all revolves around the perception of the masses and yes, not to forget what is morally right. For instance, take Cinemas, there is commercial Cinema that’s meant for pure entertainment, there are documentaries made by women about women, they are doing well in every field like music, dance etc. A woman easily fits into any role and has the capacity to take important decisions as men.

I believe there is a need of a balanced portrayal of women and girls in their multiple roles and use of non-stereotyped, balanced and diverse images of women in the media.
The continued projection of negative and degrading images of women in media communications - electronic, print, visual and audio - must be changed. Print and electronic media our country does not provide a balanced picture of women's diverse lives and contributions to society in a changing world. In addition, violent and degrading or pornographic media products are also negatively affecting women and their participation in society. The world- wide trend towards consumerism has created a climate in which advertisements and commercial messages often portray women primarily as consumers and target girls and women of all ages inappropriately. For instance in order to sell any household products, women is shown as a submissive homemaker whose contentment lies in the happiness of her family.
Therefore we conclude that where on one side there is positive projection of the image of women there is negative as well. It shows that the changes are going on for good but then, there are requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to achieve a greater stability in the society. Television is widely known to represent and reinforce the mainstream ideology of contemporary culture that is patriarchy. While television representations of women have changed greatly but the question is in order to accommodate the changing role of women in society, how much the ideology has changed behind the more modern representations of women? Television is regarded by many viewers to be the most 'real' form of media and if this is the case, then it is important for us to question how real the representations of women are on television and how this affects the attitudes of those who watch.

A LAPSE

Who said I am Lost? Nah...I am just trying to search my heart that departed few minutes back leaving my mind alone. Surrounded by the crowded, materialistic brightness of the Metropolis I quietly stand in silence. It is a battle I am fighting without any arms and ammunition's. A battle against my lost heart. My state is even worst than a beggar who at least knows his direction of life. Unlike me. I feel drained. The mind is trying hard, telling me to keep patience.
Can I?
..............These obsolete, weird thoughts are making there way up to my mind...I feel disconnected from this world, which I have been foolishly calling my own. Floating through the clouds of perplexity, I make stringent efforts to throw words on the blog, anticipating it would give me some kind of satisfaction. As I sit and type with my weak, shivering fingers, all kind of incidents, conversations, experiences struggle to intrude in my empty mind. There is a colossal affect on my process of thinking which is barely seems to be breathing.
Suddenly, someone knocks at the door, for good this someone is able to break the web of the silence I am gripped in. I thank god that this new thought crossed the boundaries of my estranged home of thoughts. Still no satisfaction guaranteed. As few minutes more pass by, I diagnose my illness is severe. However, I am doubtful if there some medication that can cure it. Who cares? I do not feel like being cured. No wonder I am a sadist at heart.

The more I try to escape, the more these waves of restlessness flow in my mind. The sudden rush of confusing thoughts makes me pensive. The insecurities of life assure me a security of disappointments. I feel glad. I am aware destiny is playing tricks with me. But I am still glad.
I am alone. I sit ideal. Writing is the only activity I resume to. The demise of my contentment is even not disclosed to me. I feel unheard. Whom should I call upon except my god? Who resides in my heart, and my heart is lost. The words of wisdom no more enchant me. I become diabolic. Cracks and fissures in the wall of my life can be clearly seen. I am undergoing a huge loss is all I can perceive. I doubt fanatically if I can ever reconcile. I cease to abide by the morals, philosophies I had once framed for myself. There is but only restlessness. I do not wish to get rid of it, as it is only something I can be with. This strange pain is making turning me dead, as dead as a stone. Now, I can see a horrifying silhouette overshadowing me, its scary, and breaking me into pieces...
.................Am trying to figure out who AM I? ...........The dullness in the air finds me dumbfounded. I am stifled so much so, that I drop the very idea of searching for my lost heart. I have no grudges against my life; I have a grudge against myself.
The depression always accompanies me. Have I committed any sin? I silently scream. Why me? I am a waste; time is going on so am I. No motive, no aim, I just move in an unknown direction wherever my destiny is dragging me. As I traverse down the hill, I do not wish to look back, but I do. The elation, achievements are high Uphill, I feel segregated from the joy. "Even I deserved this"; is all I can talk to myself. Nevertheless, I am still glad; at least I am a failure only by destiny.

.......Still lost...maybe in retrospection...making efforts to call myself back...

GANDHIGIRI MAY HAVE given Gandhism a new generational spin, but the term and what it stands for is still unclear to the dudes who only recognize the bespectacled, dhoti-clad man through portraits that adorn office and institutional walls — not knowing really Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi’s vision, core inspirations, principles, beliefs, and philosophies and how he converged them to create the great force of conviction and credibility to throw out the imperial British regime and achieve independence for India.

For a brush-up on Gandhism, let me repeat what sounds obvious but is really not understood — the principles of truth, non-violence, self-Sacrifice and self-suffering. Gandhism aims at vindication of truth, not by inflicting of suffering on the opponent, but one’s own self. All this seems soothing to the ears, but is seldom understood, let alone followed by the nexters. The question is why is the new generation so apathetic towards these values? Why does it take Lage Raho Munnabhai to make us think about Gandhi beyond our history textbooks? Well, I think simply because in this high tech, revolutionized, competitive world, the youth has only one motto — accomplishment of personal goals. For this, it doesn’t matter whether it is accomplished through the mantra of beg, borrow or steal.

Gandhism’s relevance is lost in the eyes of today’s generation which is loathe to accept it as still a relevant way of life. For this opportunistic generation, truth, self-sacrifice and non-violence are anachronistic. Take a little example. Ask yourself, will you ever sacrifice a good job for the person who is needier? Is it possible to silently tolerate embarrassment? Or, readily offer your face for another slap? Well, the answer is a big “No” for most of us. And, who cares about truth and non-violence as far as the purpose is getting served?

The millennials think and act differently. For them, non-violence is a word only confined to the dictionaries. This is proved by the recent beating of Professor Sabharwal of Ujjain who was manhandled by unruly students, allegedly belonging to the ABVP, after college union polls were cancelled following allegations of irregularities. They chose the path of violence over non-violence. They could have easily avoided all the mayhem and heinous attacks that resulted in the death of the professor.

If still you feel there is any room for doubt, I will give you yet another very good example. I ask you all one question, answer it honestly. How was the movie Rang de Basanti?... Appealing, fantastic, amazing… And, here we are, staunchly supporting violence. This movie impressed the youth and also managed to derive their sympathy for the four revengeful youngsters who ultimately used the weapon of violence as a means to reach their aim, when all other doors were closed.

The complexities of contemporary life and environment leave no other alternative for them but to secure victory at any cost. I won’t claim values have lost their significance, but would rather say these have been replaced by a set of new values in which Gandhism doesn’t find a place.

I had a Dream……

Lovely garden, beautiful flowers
Tall trees, green bowers
Enveloped with greenery it was a different world
So serene, so beautiful is the breeze that blows towards the field.

Smiles on faces and kindness flows
Only love and love is what people bestow.
No power plays, no politics is seen
Those who are honest only triumph.
Evil and bad are the only poor
Who are denied all pleasures, all freedom.

Big personalities like Sonia have no say
Differences in cast and creed are far away.
There are no Arjun Singh’s here
As it’s a paradise where each and everyone are take care.
Corruption is a policy unknown
Bribes and status only drown.

This place of my dream is priceless
People do not chase money
They are at rest.
There are no murders, no thefts take place
A brother does not kill his brother
Women are respected and honored.

How wonderful it would be to live in such a paradise
I just wish if it could be Our India
But unfortunately it is only a dream that I had
Just yesterday only to see after
Opening my eyelids to face the bitter reality!

A COMMERCIAL AGAINST CHILD LABOR- AN IDEA.

MESSAGE: “Don’t Kill Dreams”

THE CONCEPT: I aim to make this commercial not to sell any product, but to create awareness among the masses. The idea is to send a clear message across. Therefore through a simple commercial I wish to tell people what pain we inflict on little children by making them work. The very idea of the girl touching all the things in the room and being so engrossed with everything around her shows the innocence. In this commercial, expressions, actions substitutes for words/Dialogues. The girl’s expressions reflect the dreams of millions of poor children who long for love, luxury, and education. A wonderful childhood is a dream for every child. At the end, the girl goes to the school. This is just a solution, a way in which one can help to serve the society, our Children who need our helping hand desperately. This summarizes the theme of my Commercial as well as brings out the underlying meaning of the message: “DON’T KILL DREAMS”.

The Target audience is majority of houses and families who keep young children and make them work day and night. This commercial will definitely make an impact; the moment one watches it, or even listens to this one can share the emotions, and relate to it.

IN THE WORLD OF DARKNESS....

"I am blessed"; recently I purchased a cute tee with this punch line written on it which is the truth of my life. In this cradle of luxuries I am fortunate enough to experience no sorrow but bliss. I can see, feel and listen the beauty of this world along with its ugliness. I still remember the incident that changed my entire life and purpose of living. And today I can proudly claim that I have been through this world of darkness. Alas! I wouldn't have been the same if I would not have met her. It was right one year back when I was in the final year of my graduation. One sultry afternoon I was about to leave for home after the classes, when my eyes spotted her. A meek looking girl with bruised arms drenched with sweat all over was sitting secluded on the stairs under the burning sun. The kind heart in me ceased me from ignoring her. I don't know why but when her wet eyes came to my notice, I felt she needed someone desperately. Without a second thought I went up to her. It seemed she did not welcome the very idea of engaging into a conversation with a stranger. I was adamant. I sat besides her. Even before she could speak anything I popped out a question; "What is it that grieves you so much?" She looked straight and after observing five minutes silence she wiped her eyes and softly replied; "Whoever you are thank you for the sympathy but the reason for the tears in my eyes is not any grief but happiness". What a nerd I could be, I thought unable to differentiate between the tears of sorrow and Joy?! This made me more curious. I was no more apprehensive neither was she. I wanted to know more. I asked what kind of joy is it that you wish to share it with no one but loneliness? Her smile confused me. Her answer made me numb for a moment. Her words went somewhat like this; "Since last few minutes we met, my tears could not stop you from thinking about the reason behind them. In the entire conversation we had you failed to notice just one thing, I cannot see. I am visually impaired. the tears begin to flow again from her eyes and the file she held closed to her heart bore the burden of it. She further continued; " I am not crying because I am blind. Bringing that file in front of her eyes as if she could see, she pointed; "This is the reason for my happiness. My Graduation Degree. After three years of hardship and struggle I have got this I longed for. And, I can reminisce the tortures and pain I had undergone when I used to travel in the crowded DTC buses and harassed by people who took undue advantage of my blindness and gender. How I struggled to get a single room in my college hostel. All this pain today doe snot pinches me. Rather my past makes me proud of myself. i slogged day in and day out alone in this big bad world to survive and turn my dream into reality. In my hands I hold the most precious thing in front of me. Nothing today makes me sad, neither loneliness nor the bitter past....Just one wish I have at this moment, Only if I could once see my degree which I now hold tightly in my hands. I have no desire to see the world or the beauty of the nature but this piece of paper that has given me a reason to live with hope and happiness".

I was loss of words. the numbness departed and I wished to leave her alone. I hugged her tightly and congratulated her. Gave her my contact and assured her that I will be there for any help she would need in future and now she has found in me a friend forever. And I left as soon as possible.

"I am blessed". I realised the value of this three letter word after this journey through the world of darkness. All this makes me feel guilty a bit. Despite of being gifted with more than I could ever ask for I crib, I worry, I snob, I get frustrated. But now when I think about her I feel she is more blessed than me her world of darkness is no more dark, there is light of hope, of patience and peace. I wish my bright world could be as bright as hers.

FOR ALL YOU LOVE BIRDS OUT THERE!

We all are in Relationships. We all suffer and still we love them. Because they are the ones which give us a reason to live, to smile, and to cry for. That's the irony of relationships. The most sensitive of all relationships is between a girl and a boy. The mars and the Venus. It can take years to build it and a minute to destroy it. It is the one that is closest to everyone hearts be it in a positive or a negative sense. If we all want and desire to be love and to be loved then what goes wrong? Here are some tips that will help you to think, analyse and then decide what where do you stand!

1. INSECURITY: The biggest threat. One tends to become insecure because one is Possessive. If Possessiveness can become a reason for intimacy it can also become a reason for differences. It is essential to be secure about your relationship. have faith in them. And that faith should not necessarily be expressed by words. It's presence make its own space between the two.

2. SHOUTING FOR FREEDOM: Now, this is just like you want to have everything. How can one be so selfish and demanding. If you are desperate about the word "FREEDOM" in your life then I am sorry but you are not meant to be in one. I often see people shouting; "We Need SPACE"! Ask yourself If you have decided to spend your entire life with a person and you are ready for the commitment what kind of damn space you need?? It does not means en slavery or surrendering your egos. It means adjustments. Either you settle or you don't. Next time whenever you start feeling suffocated about your relationship, let all doubts sink and first thing you should think about is What kind of freedom I need? And if I do Do I deserve it?

3. LOVE IS WHEN YOU WANT TO SEE THE OTHER PERSON HAPPY: Your own happiness is important, so never forget it, or ignore it but always take care the person you love is also happy with it, is also a part of it. this might sound a bit Cliched but this will help you sustain your relationship. Never let it go just like that. Believe it or not but the true love is one where you care for that person no matter what, no matter how much he/she hurts you, misunderstands you and in the heart of your heart you still know for yourself its all for the others happiness. No pretensions, no showoffs, a true love is one where you always make the other person happy, live for him/her without even letting him know.

THE MUSICAL NOTES!!!

Nowadays the Musical reality shows are 'IN' thing that clicks with the audience. Forget about the equal TR P's channels like Zee T.v with Sa re Ga Ma Pa, Star Plus. voice of India, and Sony with Indian Idol are earning. there is an emotional element attatched to them. When I see people at my house, Friends and relatives literally engrossed in it so much so that they cannot live without giving out their own judgments, crying, celebrating and voting for their favourite candidate on huge respective numbers I feel somewhere these shows are successful. And not only it is good entertainment for the public, it is equally good for our talented youth who are newcomers and whose careers are on the threshold. This serves a platform for them, to perform well and to kick start their career. Not only it gives them a lot of exposure but it also grooms them and makes professionals out of them.
There are so many of these kind of serials that I don't even remember who is my favourite. But, I am sure of one thing that with this the music industry will certainly grow attracting the true talent nurturing them and producing more Asha Bhosle's and Himesh reshamiya's who would undoubtedly make our country proud! Three cheers to Our Musical maestros!

THE INDIAN SPICES NO MORE SPICY!

It is surprising and unfortunate. The Indian Spices are exported to foreign countries on a large scale. It is indeed India's biggest trade practices. But, due to some laxity in the organisation and planning(which is nothing new for our country) even the spices have to suffer. The US food and Drug Administration(FDA) made the startling Revelation that 1,782 food consignments from India valued at $1.2 billion were rejected on arrival at US ports between July 2006 and June'07. And, the culprit is the 'Salmonella', which is a genus of rod shaped gram negative entr0bacteria that causes typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, food borne illness. This harmful bacteria was found in black pepper and shrimps. Other contaminated particles were colour additives and dirt.
What worse could happen? There is more to come. India is among 10 Nations the European Commission lists to have received notifications for substandard products. Now, blame the climatic conditions in our country, or lack of proper storage and transportation, the fact that unlike some developed, good Nations we are always ready to compromise on the quality. And the sad part is the government and our voracious leaders seldom care about such important issues. They seem to be more interested in playing games of politics. Maybe, in our country Politics rules is the reason why everything suffers!

THE SEX STING OPERATION TURNED OUT BE FALSE!

After this Incident the ongoing discussions on the Broadcast bill becomes all the more important. A private Hindi news channel and its reporter are now under scrutiny for the sting operation that caught the school teacher Uma Khurana who was accused of forcing the students into prostitution. This whole sting operation turned out to be a hoax firstly because police could find no evidence against Uma and secondly of course the unedited tapes of the entire drama revealed that it is the poor teacher who is the victim. Another twist in the turn came when the girl who pretended to be the student was neither a student nor a prostitute.

Whatever the confusion was, it cannot be denied that the Sting Operation was false only done for some personal monetary enmity. Surprisingly, it is important for us to see that how much TR P's the channel got, this case is as sensational as a reality show! How much coverage the print media did for the same maybe out of obligation. In this context if we talk about the broadcast Bill, it is essential for us to see how inevitable the media regulation is. But as quoted by Rajdeep Sardesai the only problem that is face by the media in our country is lack or in fact absence of self regulation. Considering all the facts the it is important that the broadcast bill be implemented in such a way that the content code should be self regulatory and each channel should appoint an independent Ombudsman to monitor the adherence to it. The Ombudsman here refers to an official who is appointed by the government or the Organisation to look into the issues of public and analyse them.

Before introducing the Broadcast Bill in a jiffy, it is essential to note that content should not be government regulated. If it happens, like everywhere corruption will soon enter the Media which is the biggest Pillar of Democracy. The motive is to regulate media, to keep a check on it and making it answerable not to politicize it. if it happens the leaders of our country will be the most happiest people on earth but poor country and its citizens will suffer. The reason why the government wishes to bring media under its Licencing just like radio till that is to basically to shield their own corrupted activities that would secure them from any public interference.

If the Broadcast Bill introduced will allow the Government hold over media, the the future of the country will be promising in terms of failure. Dasmunsi, the Indian and Broadcast minister should consider all the facts before taking any such step.

RESERVING VOTES.

So much of Pandemonium has been created, regarding this over hyped issues of Reservations. And, No, I don’t say this because I am not a SC or a ST neither because I simply belong to the General Category, actually, I prefer to call myself, just a voice of a 21 year old speaking, nothing but a human being. I believe that would leave no room for conflict and controversies! It is disheartening; silently society is being divided on the bases of Castes and Religion. Just before this Reservation was brought in the limelight, the sea was smooth. A certain peace prevailed, among the Institutions and Campus. Students considered themselves as equal, merit being their Judgment factor. However, ooooooops! Somehow, Politicians cannot rest in peace. They are not made for a simple trick. They need something or the other that would just fill their protruding tummies and of course help them in their Old age. The two dangerous P's POWER AND POLITICS have become a danger for India. The glory is all lost in the Disputes for education. If you are a SC, you get through even if you do not deserve; if you belong to the general Category, you again have a chance, just throw Big Bucks and you can sneak in any Esteemed Institutions through the power of your wealth. In addition, God Forbid, if you are a person who does not belongs to either; you actually turn your way and kind of stop dreaming about being a part of reputed Institutions! Because Leaders like Argon Singh have probably fallen short of their memory. In this Age, they are doing things that they should ethically not do. It’s all crap. Instead of Government taking judicious steps to stop all melodrama happening, it is relaxing and relishing the taste of Reservation Thunder!Just ask yourself once. Why is this happening? We all have forgotten the basic facts. Why not began from the scratch? Look at the Government Schools. Only parents under compulsion would put their children in a government school. Why Our Governments Schools not at par with those of America? Before reserving seats, it is important to consider the limitations. Reservations should not be made a case of Inheritance. If a father gets it, why should his son get it again? We should first rethink what is our aim. Dividing people on castes or equal education for all?In Arjun Singh, the former seems to be the case. In fact the party in power is very active in Campaigns, be it Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi making offensive Political statements. However, somehow acute Deaf syndrome hits them when there are students rallying, fighting, burning and injuring themselves, when there are endless strikes by students and their studies are affected. No one comes in between to put a stop to all this violence on streets by the young the future of the Nation. It is shameful on the part of Arjun Singh who just wants to enforce Reservation for the OBC's without even asking what they exactly want.Criticizing Politicians is like banging your head on the wall only you would get hurt. Therefore, I think it is wise to address my friends irrespective of to what category they belong to. We should stand united, discuss and try to find out a way for you. Or else if we do not separate form this Politics, we will be ruined in it and remember not alone, it would be with our education.

THE BACK BENCHERS ARE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE!!!

GUYS and GIRLS...If you really think you will get here something which is very true. Please stop reading here itself. SHOCKED? Don't be. This is an article where the hypothesis is made without any surveys. It is indeed based on Personal research. Weird...I know. But. It is true. Amazingly In these 21 years of my life I have seen people who were known for the "MOST WELA GANG", "BACK BENCHERS" who never used to study, eventually succeed. Well, this is the irony of life and of course education. It is not essential that the serious students and book worms of the class only make the bureaucrats of the country in fact the notorious students who truly understand the essence of school life know how to enjoy each and every moment, also turn out to be as successful and talented as anyone else. Intelligence cannot and should not be tested on the basis of examination. As it is a sheer formality.

Hey you all out there, just try to remember How Naughty you were...and you can judge for yourself!!!!

A POEM : WHAT IT IS TO BE BLIND"

I am not blind I can see,
The pain of those whom darkness surrounds
Their world is not bright
As there it is empty of any light.
Far away from the joys of life they can only feel the beauty
And not appreciate
They can form the images in mind
But cannot judge
They are surely chosen one
As god is with them
All the time
To show the path to these visually impaired
And shower his kindness on these innocents.
Those who can see should help them
Love them, care for them
Should make them see the world from our eyes
We should not make them cry
And support them that we are behind god
To Hold them if they ever fall.

THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

And...When I think about it, lots of things buzz around my mind. I find myself captivated by Confusion(which is a sin for me!). What is Success? I ask myself in this utter state of bewilderment. Is it triumph of Talent, luck, money, career over relationships, friendships of years? Or is it simply grabbing the best salary package that would give us wings to fly and rush to shop all the Nikes and Benettons! Well....I am still a bit foggy about what is success all about. We all crave for success, we all wish the best, we all wish to fulfill a dream...And so we all are to become something someday. Everything is fare. Afterall it is one precious life we have. Each minute is important and Career is everything.BUT....Today, my heart and eyes could see things beyond the demarcated boundaries of my own innocence. My heart sinks at the reality which is not bitter but too heavy to digest. This beautiful world is too scary.....And this leads me to think that...More than a healthy competition the picture I can frame is only of an ugly sight...Where people audaciously kill relationships, old friendhips...They willingly choose hell and leave heaven....The purity, love, intimacy....All are abducted by the fierce cruelty and selfish interests.....To fill their piggy banks, to rise in ones life....Majority of crowd let go the precious bonds....And we should care less...afterall emotions and sentiments are all gibberish....And I find my self in argument with my mind.....I can still hear the buzz....The sounds are not clear...Confusion hangs on....And now my heart tells me to stay away, far away from this dirty world...Just surround yourself with ones who love you...Who give you happiness and don't worry about success...With internal happiness no success can be far from you....So I am blind to the rest of the world.....For me....Relationships triumph over everything....And I am happy is all that matters.....

It is hard to make this confession but I feel its is a sin to be born as a women. These words come out from my heart which is unable to bear the burden of the pain suffered by a number of women, girls. Everyday as I flip through the pages of Newspaper or surf the News channels incidents of sexual harrasment have become comman. Some weak men proove their physical strength by commiting as henious a crime as rape. And mind you nowadyas age no bar. The cases of minor rape are increasing. Innocent girls of 3 to 4 months who havent even open their eyes to the world become the victims. Thier only sin, to be born as a girl.

Despite of the increase in number of such cases what steps are being taken to bring a stop to them? Where on one hand we are singing songs of women empowerment, on the other hand such pain is inflicted on women. Our Country celebrated 60th year of Independence and honoured the women who deserve it but still there is a lot to be done.

THE RAM CROSSES THE REKHA!!!

TRUE. It can happen only in India. Perfect example of an Imperfect Administration. Three cheers to Anbumani Ramadoss who after a long turf war with director P.Venugopal finally agreed to sign the degrees of the young doctors whose careers are yet to begin. It is indeed unfortunate that to our leaders egos matters more than the welfare of the Nation and its citizens.

Only after the High courts order Ramadoss argument was declared null and void. According to him the reason for not signing the degrees of the students was that the certificates were signed by the registrar Agarwala whose appointment was not sure. And if it is set aside, the degrees would become invalid. But the slap by the court taught Ramadoss to think wisely and explained that in no way degrees would be considered invalid, it is the argument that is invalid.

It is ridiculous how the youth of India is treated by the politicians. And god forbid if the court does not comes to the rescue what will happen to our country? And then politicians express their agony against the legal measures taken by the legislature. It is high time Ramadoss should pay attention to the position he is responsible for rather than engaging into such gibberish. Instead of improving and maintain standards of the premier institute of the country, he is resuming to activities like disrespecting doctors of stature ; p.Venugopal, and adopting an apathetic attitude towards the students. I hope this helps Ramadoss to improve his mental state of mind which seems to be disturbed.

Rejections give you a reason to succeed- No one is Born Intelligent.” “Rejections give you reasons to be Successful”.

Today I can understand the truth of these statements. It was just 3 years back that I recognized I too possess a flair for writing. It is important here to make it clear that mine is no case of inheritance. My parents are not writers, nor were my Ancestors. Might seem farsighted, but actually dreams take shape when you realize you have the ability to turn them into reality. It is not just destiny, but the setbacks that make one determined to follow ones aim. Therefore, it happened with me. Some small incidents at times become strong reasons for success changing one’s life like never before.
With me, It all started with an argument with my father. It was post board exams. One fine day I went up to him with this firm decision about my Career; “Dad, I want to be a writer”. His little grinning smile and sarcastic remarks were tough for me to handle. He tersely replied; “The skill of writing is inborn; don’t be fool. Rethink your decision". Harsh words flared my determination to become a writer. Other than this, one of my friends who is undoubtedly a very prolific writer came to my house with her mother. She had achieved many laurels for her writing. At that time, she was writing for a Journal "The Campus Paper" and she was proud of it as every writer is! Her mother felt happy boasting about her daughter’s piece of works that were regularly published in the Journal. One day, with the aim of genuine concern, she gave me the email add of the Newspaper and asked me to try my luck out there. Before I could express my gratefulness and thanks to her, she destroyed all my hopes. When I told her, I had many articles and I love writing. She replied; "They don’t publish any of the articles, you need to be really good, try but it’s very tough to write as good as my daughter". This was indigestible. I thank her for making me realize things are not easy in life. You really need to work hard. As that was the day, I promised my article would be there in print. My life changed. It made me focused towards my goal. Long back, when the Journal published a short opinion written by me I was overwhelmed. There was no looking back since then. Today, I write and I write well. I am proud of it. I have experienced many rejections. I cried on it. However, today I take failures with equal jest because they only lead you to success.

THE POWER IN US: In the midst of such hustle bustle I ceased for some time to think over this very concept of my Motherland in whatever state it is.

I was born here is all that matters. I wished to understand, recognize my Identity beyond the diameters of the luxuries and the good name I inherit as a blessing from my Family. I may not be echoing the voice of millions of Indian youth but at the same time anticipate strongly that it should be heard by thousands if not millions. What made me write this piece is the negligence of Majority of us who are too immersed in the social fabrics of Society forgetting that we as Indians, citizens of this Nation have a duty towards it.

Before I began to harangue about this unusual topic of Youth and Patriotism in India, It’s inevitable to define what Patriotism means; “It is love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it.” Probably most of us are scared after reading the word “Sacrifice”, and the first thing that strikes our mind is it not more than enough that we love our country. However, do we really do? Every year Republic Day, Independence Day, or Gandhi jayanti come and go. For us all this has lost its significance as it’s only another fun holiday to relax and enjoy the day. Where on one hand is the humdrum attitude of the youth, on the other hand attempts are made by the fourth estate of Our Nation to frame a somewhat good picture of its developments so far. Take for instance the recent India Poised campaign by The Times of India though hasn’t got unnoticed. It has made full efforts to bring forth the Big achievements referring to the growing GDP, fastest accelerating economy, India becoming a global Giant and what all. According to the statistics, those living in abject poverty in India had fallen by 10 per cent. On the larger map of India, there are the achievements of men and women who have built companies from scratch — whether in the IT or pharmaceuticals — to compete in the world markets. Then, we talk about countless small entrepreneurs who have contributed to the strong economy. In addition, I will not mention our doctors, scientists, engineers, artists who are and have contributed a part of the Indian success. But, amidst the entire buzz, the truth somewhat gets hidden. The truth lies in the fact that the Journey of India since Independence is not even half accomplished. Still, it’s a country of darkness where the denizens lack the basic necessities like water and electricity. The so called booming Economy has many loopholes if scrutinized carefully. And, on the top of that where is the inner poise? Well, the truth is that majority of the youth is content with the shining statistics and therefore seldom care about the actual health of the Nation. Growth in economy, growing technology, everything comes to square one when the Love and devotion lacks. The youth needs to realize that Patriotism is not in protesting for Reservations, fighting amongst ourselves, burning effigies or Candle marches for cases like Priyadarshani Matto and Jessica Lall. It is acquires a much greater meaning and understanding. Nor does it imply the impossible of going to borders to fight for our country! But the youth certainly has the mind to think, analyze, and speak our minds and pledge to make a change.
The gruesome reality is that we all are busy in the highly competitive world where even a fraction of second is important. The zealous\ness is missing. We all boast there is no time to waste. The Mantra of the Youth is Earn well and lives life King Size. In Moolha resides the ultimate Satisfaction. Who cares where the hell India is going. We all have a word to say but lack the brevity rise and make the first attempt. Frankly speaking according to the India constitution a vote can be cast by children above 18 years old. And in an 18 years old wallet, all kinds of credit and club cards can be finding except the voting card. Is there any room for doubt? Mentally the youth is so occupied that he/she has little business to do with the fact whether ABVP is in Power or NSUI playing with the sentiments of the Nation. The country is suffering mere torture in the hands of the youth. Big words are very easy to say. But, on opening ones eyes wide one can very well see that the youth is in conflict. The Indian youth is lost somewhere in the Colors of Life. Living a luxurious life, spending lavishly on Discs, Parties, and Branded clothes remains the only motto. “Western” though a cliché’ is one term that clicks with the Youth of today. Patriotism only manages to receive some grave facial expressions or comments that reflect the apathetic attitude.

Foreign universities are targeting our talented youth and, of course, our money. Others may look on these successful individuals and blame India for not having 800 million more of them. It's this kind of laid back attitude that acts as a barrier, we are not failures.
A timid nation and visionless government runs country through arbitrarily decisions without any wisdom. And the youth watches. They think it is wise to keep a distance from the dirty Politics and Poverty that’s inherent in the roots of our Country. Whereas a change is required in the attitude. The youth of our country should revisit the lanes of Patriotism as true Indians. It is important that we step outside of our 8th grade essays on Patriotism and view it from a vantage point. As the future of the Country the youth should first love its Nation in which they live, As patriotic, expect the country to interact with the rest of the world in a way that is honorable and just, accepting responsibility for mistakes that the Country makes, and having pure motives in all that one does. Moreover, not to forget lastly, being a citizen of the country, understand that the primary job is to speak intrepidly. Each youth should recognize its role, identify with terms like ‘Independence’, ‘Power’ and ‘Freedom of Speech’. Being patriotic does not mean blindly accepting and supporting whatever country’s administration does. Rather, it means to have the guts to raise ones voice, to publicly criticize the corrupted leaders’, their behavior or decisions, or their lack of good judgment. And make decisions that may be unpopular.
India is an imperfect society, but no more than any of the others. If we could only have a perfect bunch of youth who would concern themselves more with the Nations with high spirits and with a dream of emerging as future National leaders! Believe me sounds a bit too patriotic but eventually it’s the key to success of us as Indians as well as our Nation.

India is poised or not, the youth are Proud Indians or not is difficult to be answered correctly but one thing is certain that, as a nation, India has to go a long way. Patriotism is not in display, it resides in the hearts of the Citizens!

JAI HIND!

PEACOCK BLUES -It is true, childhood is the best part of your life and there are some incidents which never let you forget the fact that you were too

I was 5 year old when I went for a one-day tour to Jaipur, the pink city. The beautiful architecture and Fortresses amazed me. Though, then I was too small to understand the history behind them. The entire one day went in sightseeing. Still, many new things allured me. In the Evening, we had our departure. Therefore, we left at around 6 PM. When we were on our way back to Delhi, we enjoyed the greenery of the dense forests on both the sides of the road. The sky was dark and the excitement ran through our nerves as we clung to our windows and desperately waited for the thundershowers. Few minutes later, there was heavy downpour that ringed our hearts with joy. As we were busy enjoying the rain, our bus suddenly stopped, and we jerked. Scared, we were curious to know the reason behind it. As our teachers got down to see, to our amazement, there was a bunch of Peacocks who stopped our way. All of them were dancing in the rain and the sight was the moment to capture. We all got down from the bus to take a closer view, and it was since then I adored Peacocks and later even requested my father to get me one as a pet!
Three days after I returned, it was a Sunday. One fine morning I waked up early and accompanied my grandmother to the nearby park to play with my friends. Suddenly to my joy, I saw a peacock hidden behind a bush. This reminded me my trip. I could not control myself. An idea struck me. Quietly I went to take my water bottle full of chilled water opened its lid and went near the bush where the peacock was hid itself. The moment I found it, I threw all the water I had in my bottle on it, but to my utter disappointment, it ran away rather than dancing. Perturbed, I started crying wondering why it did not dance as I had seen them dancing under the rains!

When Silence speakks.....

Its after 21 years of my beautiful life I have come to beckon the very secret of life 'Silence speaks louder than words'. Some years ago When my ceaseless questions remained unanswered, when every word I uttered carried no significance, when emotions were intense but inexplicable, when expressions were there but words could not mould them....Is today the thing of past. Surprisingly, my clever tongue has now grown up...It understands that it is wise to speak according to time and requirement. Somehow it has matured with me. It nurtures silence. The art of listening, it has revealed with me, is just 'superb'. There was a time when like every child and human being words were my biggest support. And toady...Through silence I speak, I perceive and I feel. All thoughts are rendered through silence, it has become a medium to communicate, to express, voice out my feelings. Be it love or hatred, silence talks. So valued silence is to me...It soothes my senses...Evades any possibility of premonition. It guides me, shows me the way, gifts me with sanity of mind as well as soul...This discovery is as beautiful as life...Silence is a gift of Nature to us, so that we can appreciate the sounds that murmur...Of birds, animals, trees, leaves, breeze, flowers...Silence camouflages the thoughts, ideas....Leaves no room for commotion...An individual for whom silence is still a stranger...Is incomplete...Invisible in his/her own eyes...Is unaware with self...Just needs one minute of silence to answer all his questions...Still puzzled?don't speak...Just listen, Be Silent.

Breathe Healthy!

Looking for some Great health tips? Find yourself suffocated? Suffering from weird mood swings. On the other hand, every other day rushing to the Doctor, spending loads of money on the clinics, for some or the other unknown problems. Well, if this is the case, more than our health’s it is our heart and mind that are suffering for sure. In addition, no this article is no preaching that sings songs for spirituality or being religious. These are simple ways to keep your heart and mind away from the madding crowd.
As the morning, alarm rings in our ears, each one of wakes up from bed always getting late, mostly in a hurry either to leave for office on time, or to send children to school, or cook food for hubbies. We all are running errands in the beginning of the early dawn. The lovely sunshine of the day somewhat is ignored by us. From a kindergarten kid to a homemaker, almost everyone is just in to too much engage into the activities of life, slogging every day to achieve something, to fulfill our duties and responsibilities. Every day is demanding, requires our mind, and energy and consequently what we all end up getting in giving our self is lack of sanity.
Moreover, we do not realize us more than they do not realize doctors we need to give attention to our self. In this case, even gym will not help. The lifestyle that is becoming so popular nowadays is gradually leading to the deterioration of health.

It might sound very absurd but welcome news is from some few basic techniques we all can pull out our self from this web of tensions and worries of life and of course our assumed bad health!
The first and foremost tip is to keep smiling. Sounds funny? Yes, it is funny but very useful. People may cal you mad, or give a tag of Nonsense, but smiling helps, believe me it keeps you charged!
Second wonderful technique is always get up early, if you don’t have the time to join full course yoga, take 5 min to do some deep breathing exercises. In addition, believe me it does wonder! Intake of oxygen helps in concentrating, keeps you energetic and happy.
Avoid beverages and have lots of Juices and water. Luke warm water is great for our body and skin as well.
Never keep things to your heart. Explore your weakness, what is causing you anxiety? Is it emotional insecurity, or financial worries or some personal tensions? Talk to someone about it. Just vent your anger, thoughts out, either on a paper or to someone whom you trust.
It is always good to have some passion. Be it drawing, painting, singing(however soar u sing!), dancing(even if u feel your age is too old to dance!), playing with kids, running like a 10 year old, crying like a baby, sleeping for hours…..and just whatever makes your heart ring with happiness We often forget what we like and in a way it affects is health. Each one of us should do something or the other that drives us crazy…as Life is too short to be taken seriously!
Learn to appreciate nature. When we stop smelling the flowers in this garden of life, we loose the very essence of it.
These are not hardcore exercise tips to remain healthy. However, if you actually read them and give it a minute to think about hem, you will surely feel Life is much beautiful and feel healthier than ever!

LOVE??????????????????????????

Give me a reason to love and I will. Was thinking about for quiet some time how to reveal this truth to myself. And today when I finally decided to, I am all the more blunt and audacious to face it unlike many other times. Its just so beautiful to be in love.....for few fine months of the year...and as the time gradually moves on the relationship starts revealing its true colors, and people attacked by the cupids arrow end up just so frustrating with their relationships mostly going haywire. And why the hell I am blabbering such nonsense about such a beautiful word called "LOVE"? When each and every individual hopes to find the dream man or the dream women of his/her life? Well, no not because I am broken hearted and trying to sooth my heart....but yes because I have seen actually how crazy people get after being in love. The more peace it gives, the more insane you tend to become. This is the irony of love. You deny it but you cant simply cant disagree with it unless you have just started dating!!!Often I try to comprehend the experiences that my Friends who are seriously committed going through all that...blah blah blah...."you don't call," "I don't have time", "You never understand","your mom is too rude"," our future is uncertain","you are not the one I fell in love with".....Actually, there are dozens of such eerie conversations and you will agree they are endless! So basically, what I exactly wanna ask, to just everyone what is so beautiful about it when the charm of this four letter word vanishes away in just 4 days? Do we love to ruin already screwed up Life? Or do we love because we love to fight? Or do we love because the world is doing so? Or just because flirting is our one favourite pass time? Or ....forget it, otherwise people who are in love will kill me for this! Before ending my weird note about LOVE, I would just say, never love for just the sake of it, and if you think you are truly in love, let go off all kinds of personal enmities and ego...On a serious note there is nothing called as "Ideal Love", or "My dream Man, my dream girl"(Maannn...all dis gets on my head!) .....love is when two individuals don't come together because they are in love, but because they are in love with the right person. So, strop making fun of your relationship, if you have entered the paradise, don't let it turn into hell....All the best :)

SALLU-MANIA

No. Its a wrong guess. For a change this time its not the Masses but the media who is gripped by this mania. This bollywood heartthrob who is making news has now stepped out of his shoes to add magic to the monotonous courts after Sanjay Dutt. All this truly gives a feeling of 'Apna India'! From media to politics to bollywood everything is as colorful as its denizens are. There is indeed no need to brief about the further details in this context. Just switch on any News channel and the rest of the story can be easily understood. The kind of coverage sallu-bhai is being given by the media can break the records of his entire life. Today he has become a celebrity in true sense. For last few days or maybe more I have been trying to look beyond the surface, gathering each and every details of my not so favorite actor. After spending 6 nights in the Jodhpur jail he is finely out. Proving 'No one is above the Law'. Sounds good. More interesting is he has got the bail on personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and 2 sureties of 50,000 each. This is the price of poaching an endangered species one has to pay for in our country. The adorable Star can happily spend some precious time with his family and of course close people till the review petition is being scrutinised by the Rajasthan High court which was looked upon with a sense of greatness by the fans.

The Spicy News that the channels broadcasted the entire day and perhaps will for infinity tells that there was a huge crowd waiting for him at his residence. All in the celebrity honour. The chinkara is dead and buried somewhere beneath in this pandemonium. Is it? Well. I have no right to comment. The ball is in media's court. After all the more sensational it gets, the more TR P's it can bank upon. Its a win-win situation for our fourth estate. Making use of democracy in the best way possible. Well, I really don't have any right to comment when I was glued to my T.V set catching the entire routine of Salman from what was he clad in to what he had for breakfast, lunch etc. It feels just too good to waste time on this VVIP issue that has succeeded to shake media and of course media frenzied people. So, you don't agree. It hardly matters what we debate. Media is all spiced up, and will remain so not exactly because of some serious issue like poaching but only becuase media knows what it costs to be a celebrity as much as the celebrity himself! Now, I doubt if you can disagree.
